impact Report

Year Two – 2021

2021 Impact Report

This report outlines the mission, vision, and impact of The Constellation Coalition in its second year of existence. We launched in 2020, two days before the world shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. As such, things did not start off exactly as we had imagined.

Even with the unexpected events of the last 24 months, we are very proud of all we have been able to accomplish in partnership with our sponsors, donors, and partner organizations in the field. In this report, you’ll find more information and stories of impact.

Thanks for being a part of this journey with us. Empowering women will change the world. You’re making it happen!

Sincerely,
The Constellation Coalition Board of Directors

Women were made for connection. We thrive in mutually beneficial relationships. That’s what The Constellation Coalition is all about. There is so much untapped potential amongst the world’s poor. They don’t need us to fix them. They need us to love them and invest in them. They are the solution to their own problems and through relationship we get to come alongside them as they rise above poverty.

Our mission to empower women out of poverty connects deeply with me as an entrepreneur.  Knowing firsthand how important the relational and financial support is to being successful, every letter and every dollar matters deeply to our Sponsored Entrepreneurs. These relationships connecting women from around the world will absolutely change it for the better. I know, because I’ve seen it change mine.

POVERTY IS…

The root causes of poverty is more than just a lack of access to basic necessities of life like water, food, shelter, education, or healthcare. Inequities including gender or ethnic discrimination, poor governance, conflict, exploitation, and domestic violence also cause poverty.

Poverty is mental.

Poverty is emotional.

Poverty is racial.

Poverty is spiritual.

Poverty is political.

Poverty is physical.

Poverty is generational.

Poverty is financial.

Poverty is…

…MORE THAN A LACK OF MONEY

Globally, over

million people live in extreme poverty, surviving on less than

a day.

1.3 Billion people in

developing countries account for

of the world’s population living in multidimensional poverty.

“Poverty is not being able to protect your family. Poverty is not being able to save your children when mothers with more money could. And because the strongest instinct of a mother is to protect her children, poverty is the most disempowering force on earth.”

Melinda French Gates
The Moment of Lift: How Empowering
Women Changes the World

Women-headed households re-invest

%

of their income into families and communities, compared to

%

contributed by male-headed households.

Women comprise

%

of the total world population, but make up only

%

of the global labor market.

“Empower a woman,
change the world.”

The Constellation Coalition

The Constellation Coalition launched officially as a nonprofit in March 2020.

It was born from the belief that women are the key to overcoming global poverty.

Our
mission
is to empower women overcome poverty.

We believe there are two equally important
pieces to achieving this mission…

Business Development
Genuine Relationships

Sponsorship is the most simple and effective way to combine these two approaches into a single strategy.

SPONSORSHIP

Connecting women to change the world!

We believe that a mutual exchange through relationships can change the world. We connect women entrepreneurs in developing countries with women sponsors who encourage and support each other by developing long-term relationships. Being seen, known, and loved connects the entrepreneurs and sponsors in a global sisterhood and strengthens their confidence in reaching their goals.

PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS

Partner Organizations are the in-country training and care providers needed to successfully equip our Sponsored Entrepreneurs for success.

Each Partner Organization is a nonprofit with an established track record of:

  • Training programs for job skills and entrepreneurship development
  • A focus on empowering Women
  • Integrating Jesus into their core programs

Our Partner Organizations are the lifeblood of our Sponsorship program. In addition to their training programs they provide translation services and facilitate communication between Sponsors and Entrepreneurs.

They do an amazing job of bridging the language and culture gap to help connect women in genuine relationship.

Our First Partner Organization was Forget Me Not Ministries (FMN) in Romania.

FMN cares for at-risk Roma women and their families by providing training, employment, faith development, and parental education.

Our Second partner organization was Our Daughters International (ODI) in Nepal.

ODI rescues women and girls from sex trafficking and provides healing, safe housing, job training, & micro-business Development.

NEW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

In November 2022, we launched a new Scholarship Program and were able to secure scholarships for 15 Guatemalan women to go through a 12 week entrepreneurship training program.

Scholarships offer an opportunity to empower a woman out of poverty at a lower commitment level…

  • A one-time donation
  • A shorter training period
  • One letter exchange

We hope to offer more opportunities for scholarships in 2022.

Our first Scholarship Partner is New Zone 18 – a faith based community development organization working to transform Zone 18 of Guatemala City.

Their programs include facilitating job training and educational opportunities, healthcare access, housing projects, and access to capital for work within the community.

NEW ZONE 18

2021 & BEYOND…

As we look forward to 2021 and beyond, our goals for growth include:

Reach 50 Sponsored Entrepreneurs in 1 to 1 relationships by year’s end

Add two more Partner Organizations and their entrepreneurs for sponsorship.

Offer two scholarship funding opportunities for short term training partnerships.
